From its early beginnings as Fred’s Tire in 1966, Tire Discounter has grown into a strong network of independent tire dealers throughout Central and Northern Ontario.

It’s a simple philosophy – Tire Discounter sells the ‘right tire at the right price’. Tire Discounter carries all the main name brand tires including Michelin – BFGoodrich –Toyo – Hankook and Cooper.

In addition Tire Discounter dealers sell exclusive Private Brand tires; manufactured globally to exacting standards. Private Brand tires carry the quality benefits of National brands at great value prices.

In 1990 Tire Discounter embarked on a journey to expand its retail operations and opened Ted’s Tire Discounter in Guelph. “Tire Discounter provided me with the tools to succeed” says proprietor Ted Middlebro. “Now 20 years later, I can reflect back and say that joining Tire Discounter was a very shrewd decision”.

Soon followed the opening of Duff’s Tire Discounter in Newmarket and a short time later Wayne’s Tire Discounter in Gravenhurst joined the group. “Aligning my business with Tire Discounter has proven to be a wise decision" says Jeff Duff. I have an ability to offer my customers a wide choice of products and services at great prices” says Jeff Duff. “I can count on Tire Discounter to deliver the products I need every day. This allows me to operate with lower inventory levels yet offer my customers a wide variety of sizes and brands at great pricing” says Jeff.

In 1995 a new Tire Discounter distribution center was opened in Barrie, to better serve the needs of customers in the northern regions. Barrie’s modern facility is equipped to supply product on a next day basis to areas as far away as North Bay.

Today Tire Discounter Group is comprised of 28 branded Associate locations in Ontario as well as over 40 Affiliate stores. In addition Tire Discounter supplies products to hundreds of wholesale customers throughout Ontario. Plans are underway to open 4 additional Associate locations in the near future.

In 2006 Tire Discounter expanded its wholesale business to include a new 45,000 sq ft distribution centre in Orangeville. However in 2010, due to a dramatic growth in business, Tire Discounter opened its new 92,000 sq. ft. facility in Orangeville. Combined with its Barrie distribution centre, Tire Discounter is now better positioned to serve the needs of their dealers and in turn the consumers of Ontario.
